Relocation guides that start with your passport
AnywhereBetter is an independent guide to moving abroad. We cover 12 countries — visas, bureaucracy, banking, work, schools, housing and cost of living — and rewrite each one for 20 different passports, so you read the rules that actually apply to you.
Why the passport changes the answer
"How do I move to Canada?" has no single answer. The visa you need, what it costs, whether your driving licence can be swapped, whether your documents need an apostille or a full chain of legalization, and whether you can keep your citizenship all depend on the passport you hold. Most guides are written for one nationality and leave everyone else to work out the differences. We write the general guide once, then the specific version for each passport.
How we research
- Official sources first. Immigration departments, tax authorities and government agencies come before news, forums or other guides. Every country guide lists its sources.
- Every section is dated. Each topic carries a "Verified" month, so you can see how current it is.
- Numbers you can use. Fees, income thresholds and costs are given in local currency, with exchange rates stated plainly.
- We re-check. We review the guides against official sources and correct what has changed, across every passport version at once.
What we are not
We are not a law firm, a licensed immigration adviser, a tax adviser or a government service, and nothing here is legal, tax or immigration advice. Rules change, sometimes overnight, and individual cases differ. Use AnywhereBetter to understand your options and prepare good questions, then confirm the details with the official agency or a licensed professional before you act.
How the site is paid for
Every guide is free to read. To keep it that way, we may feature a small number of relocation partners — for example, a relocation company in a country we cover. Partners are always labelled as partners, and they never write or change the guides. In future we may also offer paid products such as ready-to-use forms and data packs; these will be clearly marked, and the guides will stay free.
